Burger Bun

vegetarian wholewheat bun without yeast

I am not the baker type, but once in a while I like some adventures in my kitchen and this one was for sure one of them. I have had tried few recipes before but all came out to be disaster. Finally after so much research, trying and throwing, I got down to one recipe and it turned out to be really good. Not so much fluffy like the other buns but surely taste and texture was really good. So not much talking this time directly to the recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cup whole wheat atta
  • 2tsp flax seed powder
  • 1½ cup yoghurt
  • 2tsp honey
  • 3tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • Salt to taste
  • 3tbsp Melted butter
  • ¼ cup Hot water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Sesame seeds

Method:

  • Preheat the oven at 180 degree C .
  • Soak flax seed powder in 2 tbsp hot water, let it cool. Meanwhile mix all dry ingredients whole wheat flour, salt ,baking powder, baking soda.
  • In one bowl mix all wet ingredients melted butter, yoghurt, honey and flax seed mix. Mix it all thoroughly.
  • Add all dry mix and knead the dough well. make 8 balls and place flat on baking tray. Brush oil on the balls and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  • Bake them for 15min, till the surface is little brown and hard. As soon as you remove the buns from oven, apply melted butter on top of it.
  • Let it cool down then slice them

Benefits:

  • Flax seeds being rich in omega-3 is also good subsittue to replace any fats in baking which is very good for health, being vegeterain it is not easy to incoroporated omega-3 in diet, so this is sure a better way. For more details click here
